The Divinity of Christ

Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves. Jh14:9-11

Christ said ‘I and My Father are one’ (Jh10:30) The Jewish leaders tried to stone Him to death for telling them ‘before Abraham I AM’ (Jh8:58) In Mark 2:5-10 they accused Him of Blasphemy for forgiving the sins of a Paralytic man lowered through the roof a house He was ministering in saying to them ‘But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins’ , He said to the paralytic, ‘I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house’  Every Jew in Israel most certainly knew that it was God alone who could forgive sins Mk2:7, Just as they knew it was the One and Only God that spoke to Moses in Exodus 3:14 in the burning bush as the Great I AM! When Christ told them ‘before Abraham I AM it sealed His fate in their minds that He was claiming to be GOD.  And in TRUTH HE IS GOD!

The Jews identified God as: ‘Elohim in Old Testament Scripture, meaning in the Plural ‘Divine ones’. They recognize Him as the ONE True God, not as many Gods, as the Pagan worshiped. In Gen14 the Lord appears to Abraham as Melchizedek and in the visitation of Gen18 Abraham saw ‘three’ men and called them Lord, fed them, received the Word and reasoned over the destruction of Sodom. In Gen28 the Lord God was manifest in the flesh to Jacob in his ladder vision. Joshua saw Him in Jos5:13 as Commander in Chief. He also protected Daniel from the lions in Dan6 and the three Hebrew Children in Dan3 where as the forth person in the fire is called the ‘Son of God’. These manifestations are unmistakable in nature, unless you want to discredit the Bible, this is ABSOLUTE PROOF that Christ as the ‘Divine Nature’ has existed as God from eternity. As the incarnate Son of God, He existed in time in His ‘human nature’.

Thus as the early Saints defined Him in their Creed: ‘God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father,  homoousios’ The Divine Nature was very God, the human nature was ‘begotten’ Virgin Born by the Holy Spirit, as the Son of God. One is NOT subservient to the other (as though more than One God exists!) In His human nature Christ appeared inferior to the Father, (Mk13:32, Jh5:19, 14:28) But in the Divine Nature is He equal to or Very God! (Jh1:1, 10:30, Rom9:5, Col1:16-18) God has no beginning, His Divine Nature was manifested in the flesh (1Tim3:16 Great is the mystery of godliness!) The WORD (which is God and has existed from all eternity) became flesh to dwell among us so we could behold His Glory the Glory as of the ONLY Begotten of the Father full of grace and truth. (Jh1:14)

The reason Jesus always attributed his miracles, deeds and teaching to the Father was to prove He possessed human nature as made from the same flesh and blood as His creation (Heb2:14) so He could be tempted in all points as we are, yet overcome sin the flesh and the devil (Heb4:15) and learn obedience through His suffering. (Heb5:8) Thus as humans, in our flesh, we can FOLLOW in His foots steps, endure to the end and inherit eternal life in His Kingdom. (Gal2:20, 1Pet2:21, Mt10:22, Rom2:7)

The Scriptures speak of Christ in this manner:

looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ Titus2:14

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, 1Tim3:16

of whom are the fathers and from whom, according to the flesh, Christ came, who is over all, the eternally blessed God. Amen. Rom9:5

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Jh1:1

Christ is the ONE True and ONLY God, the Way, Truth and Life. He Created all things and in Him all things consist. There is no other but He:

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. Col1:15-18

The Father Son and Holy Spirit
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen. Mt28:19-20

For there are three that bear witness in heaven, the Father, the Word (logos Christ)and the Holy Spirit and these three are one. 1Jh5:7

The Word Trinity is not a Biblical term. From the first to third century the early Saints struggled for a concise understanding to define the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Finally a Latin term meaning the number of three; triad, was devised to describe the person and substance of the Father, Son and holy Spirit as one in essence, not one in person. The first Council of Nicaea established it as orthodox doctrine in the 325 Nicene Creed. Within the Nature of God there exists the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, residing over and ministering to His Creation. These are not three separate Gods but ONE eternal being from the beginning:

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” Gen1:26

Herein is the mystery:No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him’ Jh1:18. From this we must conclude that every appearance of God recorded throughout the Bible has to be either as an Angel or in the person of Jesus Christ. As He Himself said, ‘If you’ve seen Me you’ve seen the Father’, Jh14:9. His Deity is unquestionable if indeed man is to be Redeem from his sins. (1Cor15:17) The Risen Christ, as proclaimed by Thomas as ‘My Lord and my God!’ (Jh20:28) is the ONLY GOD in which man can find genuine forgiveness of sin.

The Ministry and Purpose of the Holy Spirit
It was customary of the early Saints to Baptize new converts in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit to commemorate their new found faith in Jesus Christ, who commanded them to do so. (Matt28:19-20) The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God and Christ that Proceeds from the Father, from the beginning.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Gen1:1-2

But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceeds from the Father, he shall testify of me: John15:26

The Holy Spirit is distinct from the angels although sometimes called the Angel of the Lord in Old Testament appearances. (Gen28, Joshua5, Dan3) He is far superior to created angels in that they desire to look into. (meaning a strong curiosity to carefully inspect)

Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you, searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things which angels desire to look into. 1Pet1:10-12

But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. 1Cor2:10-12

Paul calls him the Spirit of our God 1 Cor.6:11, the Spirit of Jesus Phil.1:19 As God calls the Spirit “His Spirit” Num.11:29, “My Spirit” Gen.6:3, “Spirit of the living God” 2 Cor.3:3. He is called the Spirit of the Father in Mt.10:20, He is the Promise from the Father Acts2:33, He is called the Spirit of the Lord God in Isa.61:1. He is also called God in 1 Cor.3:16 whom indwells the all believers.

Because He indwells all true believers in Christ Scripture equates Him as God in us: But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Rom8:9-11

If you Keep Christ’s Word the Father will come and make a home in you. Jh14:23. Also: No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. 1Jh4:12-13

The believer is Called the ‘Temple of God’ 1Cor3:16, HIS Spirit actually dwells within their spirit.
2 Cor.6:16 says: For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: ‘ I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be my people, I will PUT My Spirit in them!’ (Ezk36:27, Lev26:12) If then the Spirit of the Living God dwells in us, leading us into all truth, teaching us all things, comforting us, bringing all things to our remembrance and convicting the world of sin, righteousness and Judgment, the Holy Spirit spoken of in Scripture is equal to and co-existing with God. You may not be able to see Him but like the Wind that blows you KNOW it is there! (Jh3:8)

His Ministry to the Believer:
John15:26 He is proceeds from the Father as the comforter, the Spirit of Truth to testify of Christ
John14:26 He will teach you all things concerning Christ and bring all things to your remembrance
John16:7-11 He is sent to convict the world of Sin, Righteousness and Judgment
John 16:13 He will guide you into all truth, speak of Christ and show you things to come
1Jh 2:24-27 He teaches all things concerning the Truth discerning between truth and error 1Jh3:24, 4:1-2
Rom8:12-17 He is the Spirit of adoption in us and bears witness with our spirit we are Children of God
1Cor2:10-12 He searches all things and reveals God to our spirit

Christ is the complete fulfillment of Prophecy! The Incarnate Son, the Word made flesh, the Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace. GREAT is the Mystery of Godliness!

For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. Isa9:6-7

John gave us this Warning: Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. 1Jh4:1-3

When anyone attacks the Divinity of Christ they are denying that He came in the flesh and was manifest to destroy the works of the devil. (1Jh3:8) If Jesus was NOT God manifested in the flesh then the entirety of the Gospel message is in Vain. You can Obey the whole law but where is the Atonement for you past sins?
Either Christ died and rose again as God or man has no eternal hope. Denial is anti-Christ!

The Spirit of error in full bloom!

For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works. 2Cor11:13-15

Here is the greatest deception. MANY false teachers today do not outright deny the Deity of Christ, BUT they do deny that His followers can Overcome sin, the flesh and the devil through their faith in Him! They reverse His Message of deliverance from the corruption of sin into an assumption that HE overcame for you and if you trust in His perfect Obedience you will be saved. This ALSO is a denial of his human (flesh) Nature in which He set the EXAMPLE for us to follow in faith WORKING by Love, Purifying our hearts through obedience and overcoming the corrupting influence of sin in our Mortal bodies! (Gal5:6, 1Pet1:22, 1Jh5:4-5, 2Pet1:3-4, Rom8:11, Gal2:20)

For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth 1Pet1:21-22

The ‘Many anti-Christ’s’ John warned us about are in our midst on every side. Heaps and heaps of ministers of righteousness with a ‘form’ of godliness, pretending to dispense the LIGHT of truth into the world but engulfing them in a GREAT DARKNESS! (Matt6:23)

Let NO ONE through craftiness and deceit Corrupt your mind from the SIMPLICITY that is in Christ. Examine yourself and TEST the spirits by the WORD of God!! (2Cor13:5, 1Jh4:1)
