Can a Christian be demon possessed?

You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons. 1Cor10:21

For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? 2Cor6:14-15

It is an ABSOLUTE impossibility for a genuine Spirit filled child of God to be possessed by a demon! They are the 'Temple of God, with His Spirit dwelling in them, 1Cor3:16. Defile that temple (body) by toying with sin, demons or any kind of pharmakeia (sorcery, witchcraft) and you will be destroyed. (1Cor3:17, ruined, perish) How could a demon abide in the same Vessel with the Holy Spirit, 'what accord has Christ with Baal and what agreement has the Temple of God with idols', 2Cor6:15-16. Darkness and light cannot coexist, if the light in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! The deceived can certainly be possessed by demons, the Catholics are a perfect example of this, the demons play them for fools at their exorcism exhibitions. 'Demons casting out demons, or rather bewitching all with their sorcery. But this is not exclusive to the Catholics (although they cash in on it big time) you also find these kinds of shadowy displays among the Pentecostal, charismatic types who run around 'casting out demons in Jesus name as though they are something great, although I think in this group a lot of what they do is slight of hand, spinning of yarns showmanship rather than tapping into the magic arts of pharmakeia. Certainly demons are present manipulating and influencing them, which is often manifest in false signs and wonders to captivate the people. It's the full essence of what Paul warned about in 2Tim3:1-13, in which 'evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived'. Deceiving themselves and others, and the demons standing by in joyous laughter.

There are many contributing factors to consider in this deception but the main reason so many professed Christians buy into it is they know nothing about abiding in Covenant relationship with Christ in a manifest state of purity and righteousness. Simply because it is NOT taught to any large degree among them. In fact the very notion of personal righteousness in Christ is an offense to them! They were brought to Christ under the assumption that He is their Substitute who satisfied the Father's desire for divine Justice so they could be freely forgiven and placed in a position of favor with God through this provisional exchange that is said to exert a moral influence upon them so they can gradually die to the old man of sin and eventually rule over their self-indulgent lust of the flesh. (or at the very least sin less than before) Consequently in this dark-light state that is 'considered conversion by the flesh kings who sell this stuff, its not difficult to persuade some of them that their ongoing addictions are the result of demon possession which makes them prime candidates for an exorcism event to be conjured up to make everyone believe a demon was cast out. And so it follows, everyone who can't seem to overcome their filthiness and lust after being 'saved, has a demon of lust keeping them in bondage, NOT the lust of the flesh, eye and pride of life they have YET to Crucify in Repentance, BUT another extraneous excuse why they keep returning to their vomit.

It's the 'once for all putting to death the Old man of sin in repentance they have failed to embrace that facilitates this fantasy of 'demon possessed Christians. With so many supposed converts running around addicted to pornography, pedophilia, drunkenness, drugs and the vilest forms of indulgence, we could make a strong case for mass demon possession. But I think for the most past its just lustful self-indulgence nurtured by the culture of immorality present in professed Christendom, taken captive by a lawless spirit of anti-Christ, preaching a Replacement Savior instead of a Release from bondage. How convenient is it to blame your addictions on demon possession rather than facing up to the fact you love your sin and have no intention to stop. Its not much different than the 'sin nature fairy tale, claiming an inbred malady as the perfect excuse to indulge your lust. In their rush to 'save souls' (add to the head-count) they have fallen for the worse deception of all, that a person can be 'saved (redeemed, born again) without first dying to sin in repentance; 'Knowing this our Old man (of sin, lust, self-indulgence) WAS Crucified with Him, that the body of sin (passions and lusts) might be Done away (destroyed) with that we should no longer be slaves to sin!' Rom6:6

What they do not understand is that NO ONE can be Redeemed, born again, with the Old man of sin still alive or dying out gradually in a cycle of sin-confess, revolving door between darkness and light, still caught in an ongoing struggle with un-crucified passions and lusts. 'Those who are Christ's HAVE CRUCIFIED the flesh with its passions and desires!' Gal5:24 Past tense, DONE, NOT to be repeated … this is Not debatable, its not an opinion that we can agree to disagree about. In Christ you have to DIE before you can LIVE! Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. Newness of life does not begin, Rom6:4, until the Old life is done away and this takes place in the act of Repentance, NOT as a 'Christian in a gradual process of sanctification! The Christian grows in Grace and Knowledge, adding to a faith that purified his heart when he obeyed the truth, 2Pet3:18, 1:5-6, Rom6:17.

Redemption in Christ cannot take place until the Root of iniquity is Purged (Plucked) from the heart in repentance, the axe laid to the root of the tree once for all, not just the branches cut off one by one, but a genuine inner cleansing that results in purity of heart. Until this takes place you are still in yours sins, subject to every demonic influence and doctrine of demons out there today! And that certainly includes the demons casting out demons, bewitching signs and wonders, mystical manifestations and every slight of hand charlatan in the mix. You will not be able to rightly divide their twisted rhetoric, mixing truth with error from anything else they claim is so because your trying to make 'spiritual judgments with an un-spiritual mind, still in its 'Natural (sensual, 1Cor2:14) state, struggling with lust. You have yet to first 'lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness and received with meekness the engrafted word that is able to save your soul' (release you from the corruption that is in the world through lust) James1:21-22, 2Pet1:3-4. The 'engrafted word (seed) cannot take Root in a heart still bound by iniquity.

Unfortunately the Vast majority of professed Christendom WILL NOT accept this 'once for all rooting out of sin from the heart in the act of repentance and as a result has brought untold millions of people into a 'supposed Salvation based on the flawed assumption they will 'die out to their sin gradually over time, while in the meantime they can be easily forgiven of its inevitable reoccurrence by a simple confession of 1Jh1:8-9. This is the reason they have no discernment into these matters of 'Christian demon possession, the sin-confess cycle of ruin and the putting to death of the old man. The rhetoric they are hearing may be strong against sin and desirous of duty, but its always cloaked in a veil of human frailty subject to constant failure due to some evil influence beyond our control. So they preach a 'sin management program that has the appearance of godliness but is without the power of a godly life in which sin is 'taken away (destroyed) in Redemption. This is also Key in understanding and discerning all the doctrinal fallacies laced into their teaching that undermine this central truth concerning redemption. The language they use is confusing and sometimes beguiling, difficult to unravel. Even sincere souls who have been purged and cleansed in Christ and are living a blameless life can get tripped up in their words and wrongly call them sound teachers, I've seen it time and again. People who wholly agree that the sin must cease and the old man must die in repentance will still endorse teachers on their Channels and blogs who mix truth with error into the fundamentals of repentance and faith. Those still holding to some flawed understanding of man's nature, human inability, Substitutionary atonement theories, gradual sanctification, coverings for sin, easy forgiveness for so-called mistakes and trusting instead of obeying. I have said before there is a Simple Acid Test question you can pose to these teachers that will expose them very quickly if you can get to a straight answer through their slippery evasiveness! Simply ask them: 'WHEN does the Old man of sin Die' (or some variation of the question when does the sin cease) Unless you're also confused as to the timeframe being 'in the act of repentance', this should flush out the rest of their rhetoric pretty fast. (and you can start clearing out your channels and blogs to avoid leading others astray)

So the question remains: 'Can a person be demon possessed', most Certainly and many probably are given the depth of evil we see today among the professed. BUT there is absolutely no possible way they are going to have these demons cast out of them by someone still in sin, preaching a false gospel! Do you really believe a Catholic Priest is 'casting out a demon' in the videos you see on line, or some Charismatic tongue talker is setting 'Christians free from their 'demons of lust, perversion, drunkenness etc … ? Again, can Satan cast out Satan, can you defeat sin with more sin! The Scripture says: 'Where the Spirit of Lord is there is Liberty', 2Cor3:17, this is applicable to 'Liberty over Tyranny' BUT not the kind of tyranny the 'Natural mind imagines, its is the 'Tyranny of Sin ruling over your lusts from which you must be made Free in Christ and that can only occur when the old man of self-indulgent rebellion is Put to death in Repentance and the New man of Righteousness is born. Bondage in this present day is Babylon the great, the mass confusion of endless rhetoric drawing you away from the simplicity of Christ wherein the only true freedom exists. You must 'come out from among them and be separate, touch not their unclean hands and be not deceived by their words that promise you liberty in sin. Demons can take many forms, 2Cor11:13-15, some more pleasing than others. But one place they will not and cannot abide is in the Clean-Pure heart of a Christian dead to sin and alive to God. 'Blessed are the Pure of heart for they shall see God' Matt5:8
